"I Want to Jump"

I wanted to jump the other day.

His hand was in mine,
and mine was in his.
We were underneath Canal Street—
the dot that's yellow.

I am
a dot
that's yellow.

I use the “Dandelion” Crayola, my hands.

You and I,
we're on a brown one—
A green dot
blue
yellow too...

Maybe,
I am the world.

I wanted to jump the other day.

I woke up clammy
to her closing the window
and to a thumping in my toes
and under my left breast.

The fabric was too close to me

I asked it to please,
"Give me some space."

Trains move quickly
when you and I are inside.

I wanted to jump the other day.

The ocean always scared me.
I was hesitant
My sister,
she never was.

She never is.

I want to jump today.
Not to stop being
but to start.

Jump in,
not off.

I am the world.
And I want to jump—

I want to jump today.
