I'm completely a candle junkie. I justify the insane amount of candles I own by saying that I "collect" candles as a hobby. That makes it sound more reasonable, right? Anyways, as much as I love buying candles, they're quite expensive (my favorites are from Urban Outfitters and Anthropology -- they typically range from $20-$40 a candle). I decided I'd try making my own for a more affordable approach. As an added bonus, making one yourself gives you the ability to customize the scent, size, look, etc!

The Coffee Contagion...

So... I will openly admit that I have a problem; a coffee problem. Now, I want to make a clear distinction. I definitely consider this issue to be one of coffee as opposed to caffeine. You may be thinking: Libby, what's the difference? Well...

Scone Date, OOTD, & the Subject of Sentimentality

I've been so content lately. I know it's incredibly cliché, but the fact that summer embodies so few responsibilities and such little pressure is invigorating. Yes, I can go out for coffee on a Thursday morning. Yes, I can sit and chat with ease for hours without feeling rushed. And yes, I can spend the subsequent few hours meandering through the city, the feeling in the pit of my stomach shouting "I should be doing work" or "I need to be more productive" completely absent for once. Although I always make an effort to maintain a mindset that emphasizes/embraces the here & now, everything about life lately has been making that task all a bit easier.

Whole Wheat Blueberry Banana (Quick) Bread

This bread is the PERFECT breakfast bread, as it's not all that sweet. However, the maple syrup and blueberry combination is 100% enough to satisfy a sweet tooth. Ideal with coffee, this bread is moist, flavorful, and downright decadent. Plus, it's sugar-free and whole wheat, making it wholesome, healthy, and filling.

(Guest) OOTD - You Look So Cool

Meet Mere. Yes, you have already met her in my "Meet My Best Friend" post (which provides a much more thorough description of who Mere is as an individual). I thought I'd feature her again because 1) she's alright I guess and 2) I absolutely love this outfit she wore to a music festival we attended recently.

An Ode to my Favorite Mug

If you clicked on this post... 1) I'm surprised and 2) I hope what I'm about to say will resonate with you even on the slightest level. Routinely, upon waking up, I head down to the kitchen to make myself either a cup of coffee or tea. I'm not going to explain the whole process in detail, as I'm sure you know how it goes: either turn on the stove or the coffee maker, shuffle around lazily until the whistle of the teapot commences or the machine's red light goes out, then grab your mug, fill it up, and enjoy. But, wait up -- what about the "grab your mug" part? Why did we skip over that step so quickly and casually?

Old Port Festival & Ambling Adventures - A Photo Diary

The Old Port Fest is an annual event that, despite its extreme closeness to where I live, I haven't attended in full, ever. With that said, my friends and I took to the streets of Portland, which were lined with art booths, food trucks, stages, performers, and lots of people. It was a sweltering day, but this drawback was overshadowed by the amazing performances, the prime people-watching, and the energetic aura of the city overall.

OOTD - A (Not So) Summer(y) Sunday

Yes, it is June. Yes, I am still pulling out the turtle-necks and tights. I live in a place where it can be 80º, cloudless, and humid on one day, then 55º, overcast, and bitter the next day. Particularly, on this day, the sky was blanketed with clouds and there was a bitter bite to the air (I sound like Robert Frost or something). I don't mind this weather, as it gives me an excuse to enjoy a hot coffee and cozy up in my favorite cafe without overheating or feeling unproductive/lazy.

Brand Focus: Essie & My Favorite Summer Polishes

I admit it: I'm incredibly lazy when it comes to doing my nails. It has been months since I've actually sat down and painted my own nails (meaning I've spent a little too much money at the nail salon over the past couple of months...). As of now, I'm trying to curb this bad habit of laziness by revisiting my stash and exploring the varying colors, tones, and finishes of all my polishes.
